Manufacturer of AEGIS^® Shaft Grounding Ring Achieves Approval as Nuclear Supplier for Twin City Fan Companies

Electro Static Technologies, an ITW Company was approved as one of Twin City Fan Companies Nuclear Approved Suppliers based on an audit conducted in December 2010. The audit was the result of a desire by Twin City Fan to use AEGIS^® Bearing Protection Rings for shaft grounding in nuclear power air handling systems.

The AEGIS^® SGR Bearing Protection Ring protects the bearings of VFD-driven motors from electrical damage that can result in catastrophic motor bearing failure known as fluting damage - a washboard-like pattern created from electrical discharges in VFD driven motor bearings. The unique design of AEGIS^® SGRs conductive micro fibers completely surround the motor shaft with two full circumferential rows of fibers that are and embedded securely in the patented AEGIS^® FiberLock channel. Millions of discharge points divert shaft currents away from bearings to ground. The microfibers™ themselves are specially engineered for exceptional flexibility to prevent breakage.
